"When using a pressure mounted gate, it is critical to ensure that with force, the gate will not give way.  If you are putting your gate in an opening that doesn't have flat surfaces, the mounting pads can easily slip.  The Y Spindle attachment is designed to work on round surfaces (like banisters and posts) in order to keep the gate solidly in place.  They now have rubberize ends to ensure that they will not mark your wood work."
